Susan Magdalane Boyle (born 1 April 1961) is a Scottish Grammy Award-nominated singer who came to international public attention when she appeared as a contestant on reality TV programme Britains got Talent on 11 April 2009, singing "i Dreamed a Dream from Les Miserables. Her first album was released in November 2009 and debuted as the number one best-selling CD on charts around the globe.

Global interest in Boyle was triggered by the contrast between her powerful voice and her plain appearance on stage. The juxtaposition of the audience's first impression of her, with the standing ovation she received during and after her performance, led to an international media and internet response. Within nine days of the audition, videos of Boyle—from the show, various interviews and her 1999 rendition of "Cry me a river – had been watched over 100 million times. Her audition video has been viewed on the internet several hundred million times.[ Despite the sustained media interest she later finished in second place in the final of the show behind dance troupe Diversity.

Boyle's first album, I Dreamed A Dream, was released on 23 November 2009 and became Amazons best-selling album in pre-sales. According to Billboard, "The arrival of I Dreamed a Dream ... marks the best opening week for a female artist's debut album since SoundScan began tracking sales in 1991. In only six weeks of sales, it became the biggest selling album in the world for 2009, selling 9 million copies. In September 2010, Boyle was officially recognised by having had the fastest selling debut album by a female artist in the UK, the most successful first week sales of a debut album in the UK, and was also awarded the record for being the oldest person to reach number one with a debut album in the UK.

If you have been watching the latest series of britains got talent then i'm sure that you like I was shocked when susan boyle took to the stage and wowed the world.
Never before has any contestant shocked the judges and the Britains got talent crowd.
So many people laughed and pointed at pore little Susan Boyle only to get slapped in the face with a wake up call like that.

Susan was not the only one to amaze me though paul the opera singer was incredible also and i think he will go far in the comp. The guy who blows up the hot water bottle and pulled a car with his ear was insanely funny. So do you really think Susan Boyle or paul Potts can win? only time will tell.

Cannon Rock As Played by Jerry.C and FunTwo.

There are many wonderfull things in the world but just when you think you have seen it all technology comes and smacks you in the face. Im talking about the marvel that is you-tube.
Many hours I have spent watching the varius musical talent on there and not to mention all the crazy funny and informative vids.

As im sure some of you will be aware of the you-tube heroes such as the electric guitar superstar nick named funtwo. He is like many guitarists and musicians on you-tube a legend. He plays the rock song called Cannon Rock. The song is a modern day remix of the classic Johann Pachelbel - Canon in D. It was a man named Jerry.C who turned Johann Pachelbels Canon in D into that rock song and he deserves the credit for the remake. Jerry.C can also be found on you-tube just click on his name to see the original. But it doesen't stop there my friends hundreds and thousands of people world wide have been playing and uploading it themselves inspired by the phenomenon that is Cannon Rock.

Funtwo alone has 58 million views and is one of you-tubes highest viewed videos so thanks to both FunTwo and Jerry.C the world has a secret number 1.

There are so many more talented artists out there on you-tube some such as Freddy Stevenson, Orto pilot, justin sandercore. the list is endless i hope to go into more details about these stars in the near future but for now i just wanted to mention the wonder that is Cannon Rock!

THE WHITE STRIPES ALBUM ICKY THUMP REVIEWED

For those of you that don't know the White stripes are an american rock/blues band formed in detroit michigan, Well i say band but in fact there are only two of them, Husband and wife jack white and meg white. The duo were originally thought to be brother and sister but this was latter proven to be wrong. The duo are known for the hard hitting raw gutsy rock and blues but more about that later. Jack plays the guitar and meg plays the drums, they both sing the vocals, but mainly jack does the singing.

The first sign of success came for the duo with the release of White Blood cells. since then theY have become platinum selling artists in the UK and THE U.S.A. with songs like Seven Nation Army and Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself i'm not surprised!

ICKY THUMP:
This album has definitly followed suite with this exellent blend of rock.blues and strangely enough folk rock.The album took them about three weeks to record and was compiled in nashville U.S.A.

Track 1- 4:14Icky Thump:This is the song you will of all heard on the radio. With it's stomping beat and monster opening riff, that etches it's self into your head. This track is already a classic.Well worth a listen.
Track 2- 3:54You Dont know what love is:[You Just do as your Told.]this is another classic example of how it's done. Superb rock song with great lyrics and a medium tempo.
Track 3- 5:28300. M.P.H.Torrential Outpour Blues.I love this song think it's one of the best ones on the album.Blues with occaissonal blasts of insainity.really mellow tune for the most part he does go a bit over the top i think in the hard part of the song.
Track 4- 2:48Conquest:The album then goes all mexican whith this trumpet toting battle like anthem.The trumpet part could well be played on keyboard BY Jack white ,but i could be wrong.A mad tune that you don't expect is coming.
Track 5- 3:14Bone Broke:It's back to the rock again with this cool little. number not one of the more catchy one's but its still good.a bit too hard for my taste but i feel it could be one of those tunes that grow on you we will see.
Track 6- 3:05prickily Thorn, But Sweetly Worn:thats when the folk rock kicks in. Bag pipes flutes,ocarina's and fiddle's this song is even more stranger than Conquest,but makes a welcome break from the thumping drums of meg and heavily distorted guitar of jack white.
Track 7- 1:30St andrew [this battle is in the air]This track follows on from the previus song but is more dance like and faster than Prickly Thorn. Another mad tune from the duo i think it would make a good dance or techno remix maybe.
Track 8- 3:45Back to the stomping beats this is more like it a dark, moody, earie tune that shakes the foundations of yer house when on loud awesome stuff.Great story telling blues like lyrics,
Track 9- 3:48Rag And Bone:Anothergood rock song with bluesy lyrics, good intro and strong drumbeat."Meg well would you look at this place". Rag and bone well worthy of being on the album good tune.
Track 10- 4:38I'm Slowly Turning Into you:Good song like the vocals good harmonys,wicked guitar effects,some good litle solo's as well.
Track 11- 4:18A Martyr for my love for you:great chilled out intro with some good guitar appegias. Then kicks into a steady rock rythem.Some good singing by jack in this.
Track 12- 4:19 Catch Hell Blues:This is freaking awesome amazing atittude to this song. Wonderfull guitar riff and solo's.One of the ones also is this i think. good stuff.
Track 13- 3:00Effect And cause:The final song of the album is a bob dylan style 12 bar blues sort of tune. This is a good end to the album like many before it.

Icky thump is a superb album with some strange turns. This is everything i had come to expect from the white stripes, Jack white's time with the racontuers has done him the world of good for his guitar skills. Meg white is awesome on the drums as well as providing some nice vocal singing.you can pick the album up for around 8 pound from all good CD retailers HMV, woolworths, Asda, Virgin, are all good shops or you could try online.

If you like blusey rock in any way shape or form then this is well worth a listen. A little over the top in places but all good songs in their own right. Superb effects throughout and some outstanding riffs and rythems that will want to make you go back for more.

GUITARDUDE NEW MUSIC BLOG

Hi guys welcome to guitardude blog this is my new blog dedicated to, yes you guest it guitarists. Not just guitars though i will be bringing you news veiws, pics, vids, free lessons and opinions on everything musical.

I would love to hear from other musicians around the globe and learn as much as i can. I myself have played the guitar just over 3 years now and i love it! I play in a rock band with 2 of my mates we are still a new band and none of us are what i would consider to be pro's but what the hell it's a ball nontheless. My bands name is The Sylvesters and we salute those about to rock!

I love Jimi Hendrix he is a guitar god and the main insperation for my love of this hobby. Jimi is not the only guitarist i like though some others include Eric Clapton, Jimi Page, Eric Johnson, Jack White, Funtwo lol, i will go into detail about these legends in the near future but for now rock -on- good people.
